Maybe it’s just me, but I found the whole deposit/refund process with Escape Campervans more frustrating than I expected. I had to cancel my booking, and getting updates wasn’t very straightforward. Replies were slow, and I ended up following up more than once just to figure out what was going on. I did eventually get some money back, but the whole thing felt a bit messy and unclear

The camper itself was okay, but the bedding was awful. The mattress was super thin, the sheets felt scratchy, and I barely got any sleep. What bothered me even more was that after I paid, I started feeling like the quality didn’t really match what was promised. It just wasn’t the experience I expected

I was disappointed. The vehicle choices were so limited it felt like a total quest just to find something that would work for my trip

The van was a good time at the start, and I had a decent feeling about the trip for the first stretch. Then a warning light came on, along with this odd rattling sound, and my gut immediately said something wasn’t right. That’s when things got frustrating, because getting clear help from maintenance support took way longer than it should have.
Phone support kept saying someone would call us back, but most of the time it felt like we were the ones doing all the chasing. We ended up losing a lot of trip time trying to figure it out, which really took the fun out of it. The staff weren’t rude or anything, but when something actually went wrong, they just didn’t feel very helpful. For the price, I expected a lot better

We rented from Escape Campervans and, to their credit, most of the stuff we needed was actually included. The kitchen gear, bedding, chairs, and basic tools were all there, which definitely made things easier and saved us from having to buy a bunch of extras. A few items had clearly seen better days, and having one more pot would’ve been nice, but apparently we were meant to get creative. Nothing trip-ruining, though. Overall, it was a complete setup and I’d probably rent from them again.

The van layout just didn’t work for us. It felt cramped the whole time, and that part got annoying quickly. I kept feeling like everything was in the way, so the trip wasn’t as comfortable as I expected.

There was barely any storage inside for our bags. We had to keep explaining that we’d brought normal luggage, not some huge amount of stuff, but there just wasn’t enough room. Frustrating

I rented from Escape Campervans and overall the van was totally fine, but the gas mileage wasn’t great. I know older campers usually aren’t super fuel efficient, so I wasn’t expecting anything amazing, but it still surprised me how quickly the fuel costs added up on longer stretches.

The trip itself was fun and I don’t regret it, but I do wish they gave a more realistic idea of gas mileage before booking. Has anyone else had the same issue with fuel use being higher than expected?

The van itself was fine and did what we needed it to do, but the pickup experience wasn’t great. The staff came across cold and seemed like they just wanted to rush us through the process as quickly as possible. I would’ve appreciated a little more patience and friendliness, especially when you’re picking up a rental and just want to feel like everything is clear. it left me feeling a bit disappointed and not very welcomed.

The cancellation policy felt really, really strict to me. Travel plans can change, things come up, but there didn’t seem to be much wiggle room at all. If you think you might need any flexibility, I’d definitely be careful before booking.

I found the insurance coverage confusing, and in the end it didn’t feel all that useful. I also had to chase them to get clear answers, which made the whole thing more frustrating than it needed to be.

Most of the time, they got back to me fast. Like, faster than I expected, honestly. There was one reply that took about a day longer, which was a little annoying, but not a huge deal. Overall, it was clear. Easy to follow. No back-and-forth confusion or anything.

I found it hard to handle in tighter spots. The turning just felt awkward, if that makes sense, and parking ended up being more of a hassle than I expected

Booking was mostly straightforward, but right near the end a few extra costs showed up that I wasn’t expecting. Since that happened at checkout, it’s the part I remember most, even though the rest of the process was fine...

We still managed to have a good time overall, and the camper got us where we needed to go, but the van itself was rough. It felt dirty when we picked it up, the tires looked worn, and there was a weird smell inside that never really went away. I appreciated having the convenience of a camper, but the condition was definitely not what we were expecting...

We picked up the van and it just didn’t feel cleaned out. There were crumbs in the seats, the cup holders were sticky, and the bedding felt off, like it hadn’t really been freshened up. We were excited to get going, but then we had to stop and wipe things down first, which was frustrating. Especially after paying that much, you just expect it to be ready. Not the best way to start the trip.

Roadside help was fine, I guess. It definitely took longer than I would’ve liked, but hey, at least they did show up and got us moving again eventually.

The van was okay overall, especially just driving around town. Once I got on the highway though, it felt a little shaky and louder than I expected. It also struggled a bit on hills, or maybe I’m just not used to driving a van like this. Either way, it wasn’t terrible, but I don’t think it would be my first choice for longer driving days.

We picked up our van in Denver, and the pickup itself was way easier than I expected. We got there a little early and they still checked us in without making it a big deal, which I appreciated.
The guy at the desk was friendly and walked us through the basics, like the switches, water, stove, and what to do if something started acting weird. That part was all smooth, but I did feel a little misled because the van didn’t quite match what I thought we were getting from the listing/photos.
It was clean and ready to go, and the whole thing only took about 30 minutes, so it was still a decent start to the trip. I just wish the expectations had been a bit clearer upfront so there weren’t any surprises once we got there...
